INTERVIEW

What originally inspired you to take on an acting career?

Short answer is that my original inspiration steered from ‘The Dark Knight.’ Heath Ledger’s performance to be exact.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of being an actor?

A big advantage to me is that when I show up for work, I can show up in my pjs! It’s nice to tell a story. To step outside yourself and see the world from someone else’s viewpoint. Disadvantages…. Would be the fact that work isn’t promised. It’s not a stable job, if you aren’t booking.

What are you proud of?

I am proud of a lot of things. My family, this show. Everything in me is telling me not to say I’m proud of myself for making the leap from a steady career to the inconsistent life of an actor... But I am proud of myself slightly for that.

How was the auditioning process for “All American”?

It was your typical audition process…. Kinda. The original audition, a callback, a studio test, and then a network test. Only thing for me was I waited two weeks after my network test to get the news about All American.

What can we expect from your character Jordan?

You can expect to not be a fan of his to begin. He’s destructive. I think people will come to understand him much better when the series gets going.

What do you want your fans to take away from watching “All American”?

I want the fans to enjoy this project, I want people to love it. I want them to understand the opposite ends of the spectrum as far as living can go. And that everyone is facing a battle that you may know Nothing about. I want people to be more accepting.

We hear you’re an Ohio native and grew up in Indiana, how is living there different from LA?

Wow, where to begin! First things first the landscape, weather, and amount of people are vastly different. We don’t have any mountains, we experience all the seasons, and it doesn’t take me 45 minutes to drive six miles… But I think the biggest thing is mindset. People in LA seem to me more laid back, and not as nosy as people in the Midwest. People get offended easily back home, and everyone out here is so chill.

We also heard you ran rack for at Indiana State University can you tell us about that?

Yes I did. I ran the 400m Hurdles. It was a blast, however after breaking my foot twice, and two extensive surgeries I had to call it quits.

How is working aside Taye Diggs?

It’s a nightmare…. Jk he’s the best. He is such a jokester, and keeps the set mood light. He brings so much to each scene and really pushes me to keep up with him in scenes and I love that.

What other actors or actress would you like to work with in the future?

I would love to work alongside Emmy Rossum at some point. Leonardo Dicaprio. So many actors that I look upto, It’s hard to name them all.

Where do you see yourself in five years from now?

I see myself living here. And hopefully still working, whether that’s on All American, another show, or in film.
