INTERVIEW

Can you walk us into the moment when you were inspired to take the first leap in starting your own brand?
I always loved fashion and I didn't grow up able to afford the things that I loved. I was always fascinated with the things that I seen in Vogue, other high end magazines and things that celebrities were wearing. Originally I wanted to design dresses and lingerie and from there I tried my hand at it a little bit, it was to technical for me so I decided to go with swim. Once I started I dove in head first and I've been observed ever since.

What is the differences between Fine Ass Girls and Beige and Coco?
Fine ass girls originally started as a a merch line and it was geared towards my younger followers. I decided that Fine Ass Girls was really fun to wear but it wasn't as appropriate to wear (in some cases) as age appropriate to wear. I'm a mom so I can't always wear Fine Ass Girls so I created Biege and CoCo for more mature market that I have; we cant be young girls forever.

What are the top three staple items in your closet?
Very high minimal strap black heel. I love the Saint Laurent Classic Jane Sandal. The perfect pair of black trousers that can be worn casually with a T-shirt or dressed up with something tight like a bodysuitA comfortable pair of sneakers in a bright color

How do you push the envelope and stay innovative  and original as a fashion icon within the industry?
I like to stay true to myself while also trying things that I think no one else is brave enough to do, like my gold foil hairstyle.

What advice would you give to any aspiring "shepreneurs" that are trying to start a business?
Follow your dreams. Don’t be discouraged by the non-believers. Believe in yourself.

How do you stay level headed while managing a brand, modeling and acting?
Time management is important. I each project and industry its own time, so that I can perfect them individually and equally.
